This August, ASICS will be releasing the 3rd version of the DynaFlyte. The original DynaFlyte came out early 2017 and debuted ASICS Flytefoam midsole. Developed in the ASICS Institute of Sports Science, Flytefoam is a lightweight foam containing organic “Super Fibers” that were supposed to provide a bouncier ride and have a longer lifespan than previous ASICS midsole materials. ASICS positioned the original DynaFlyte as a lightweight trainer that excelled on faster-paced runs but had enough cushioning underfoot to be used for daily training.

The ASICS DynaFlyte 3 is designed to be more of a daily trainer that can pick up the pace on those days when you’re feeling fresh. Some updates to look forward to in this 3rd version include a brand new midsole foam and an updated mesh upper.

The DynaFlyte 3 features ASICS new Flytefoam Lyte midsole foam. Flytefoam Lyte is supposed to be more environmentally friendly, more durable, and even lighter than its predecessor. Going forward, all models containing the original Flytefoam will eventually be replaced by Flytefoam Lyte.

Another update to the midsole is the removal of the plastic trusstic system included under the arch of the first two versions of the DynaFlyte. This plastic piece limits the shoes ability to twist from side to side.

Instead of using a plastic trusstic system, ASICS decided to include a full ground contact outsole on the new DynaFlyte. This means the outsole extends from the heel to the toe of the shoe. In previous versions of the DynaFlyte, the outsole stopped at the midfoot to accommodate the trusstic system. This new design should provide a smoother ride when transitioning through your stride.

The DynaFlyte 3 features ASICS AHARPLUS outsole material which resists abrasion about three times as much as their conventional rubber. To put it simply, the rubber found in the heel of the Dynaflyte 3 is the most durable rubber currently offered by ASICS.

Throughout the rest of the DynaFlyte’s outsole, less durability is required so you will find a blown rubber which ASICS refers to as their DuraSponge outsole. Blown rubber is a rubber expanded or mixed with air during the production process. This creates a lighter, softer outsole that is less durable than its AHAR counterpart.

When updating the original DynaFlyte, ASICS kept the same midsole and outsole design but used their new seamless Adept Mesh in the upper. This new mesh was inspired by bamboo sushi rolling mats that are extremely flexible in one direction and fairly rigid in the opposite direction. This design helps the upper flex as you transition from heel to toe while reducing the foot’s ability to slide from side to side.

In the third version of the DynaFlyte, ASICS uses an updated version of Adept Mesh which has wider ribbons of mesh in areas where flexibility is less important and thinner ribbons where flexibility is most important.
