COVID-19 has resulted in many people ordering food delivery or picking up takeout to support local restaurants. Yet the vast majority of restaurant fare comes loaded with calories, bad fats, sugar, and sodium. Here, review some of the worst offenders to avoid and therefore help Phentermine 37.5mg work the way it should.
Nachos typically feature tons of sour cream, guacamole, and salty cheese that contribute to waistline expansions. If you cannot live without nachos, look for ways to make the appetizer healthier.
“Order chips with restaurant-made salsa or pico de gallo and some guacamole,” says nutritionist Amy Tao, MS. “Or ask the restaurant you are ordering takeout from for some fresh veggies like peppers, carrots, and radishes to dip.”
Loaded French Fries
French fries are no friend to health and weight loss on their own, let alone when they include bacon, cheese, and creamy sauce.
“An order of Texas cheese fries from Chili’s packs in just under 2,000 calories and more than a day’s worth of sodium, fat, and saturated fat,” Tao notes, and recommends plain fries with sprinkled cheese or steamed broccoli toppings instead.
General Tso’s Chicken
Not only does the dish get battered and fried before it hits the takeout container, it also gets smothered in sauce featuring tons of sugar.
“With an order of General Tso’s chicken packing in over 60 grams of sugar, this would be more than double the amount of sugar someone should be consuming in a day. Despite the sugary taste of this dish, it is often also packed with sodium too,” Tao says. “Add a pile of rice and this especially is not a great choice.”
She suggests cooking cauliflower, vegetables, and brown rice instead.
