Eight limb method – YOGA
As defined by Patanjali , this is a classification of classical yoga as given out in his yoga sutras.
The eight limbs are defined as:
- Yama (abstinences),
- Niyama (observances),
- Asana (yoga postures),
- Pranayana (breath control),
- Pratyahara (withdrawal of the senses) ,
- Dharana (concentration),
- Dhyana (meditation),
- Samadhi (absorption).
This method expands the meaning of yoga beyond the terms of just bending and stretching, it is the union of the soul to the Almighty. It focuses on techniques to evolve the human consciousness giving a
meaningful and purposeful life. It is an eye opener among the relation between body mind and soul constituents. This 8 limb
method of yoga leads to the ultimate path of self realization.
The main word in this is “function” thus functional training includes any training that has a purpose. ‘Purpose’ is what that makes the difference here. ‘Purpose’ can vary from getting better at daily routine exercises such as walking, running, squatting or any game in general such as soccer, football, tennis etc. This training method simply strengthens us in a particular way the most basic objective
being able to do everyday task easily. It includes compound exercises such as squats, lunges and deadlifts. It aims at improving the body’s ability to work efficiently improving the coordination,
balance and maintaining the body awareness which reduces the risk of injuries.
This is a merger of High Intensity Interval Training (HITT) and yoga asanas. This is specifically designed to serve the dual purpose of burning fat and building strength. Also known as sprint interval
training (SIT) it is a form of interval training method, mainly a cardiovascular exercise form alternating periods of intense
anaerobic exercise with less intense recovery periods. It is highly beneficial than the commonly followed practices as it helps not only to increase the strength and flexibility but also improves the heart health along with encouraging relaxation through the connection of mind and body.
Increased Wearable Technology
An activity tracker, or more popularly known as the fitness tracker is the device that keeps a check on fitness related metrics like distance walked in a day or number of steps more specifically, calories
consumed in a day and some are also designed to measure the heartbeat. This is a great futuristic trend as people are more aware and dedicated towards the personal health and would like to know all the details just at a tap. With the increasing trend among people to be fit to be aware the urge to buy such products also increases.
Personal training is defined as the training with focus on individual growth and training which can vary person to person. It is a highly trending factor these days because people are more fitness oriented
and are aiming for better results in every regard. It is also observed that the personal trainers are themselves also more dedicated and accountable towards their clients as compared to the regular gym
trainers as all their attention is directed towards one individual. Thus the success rate in this scenario is high.
