In 2017, Saucony released several models that featured their new EVERUN cushioning technology but one trainer seemed to stand out among the rest, the Saucony Freedom ISO. The Freedom ISO was the first Saucony running shoe to feature a full-length EVERUN midsole and this addition helped to further increase springiness, flexibility, and durability.
Following tradition, Saucony decided to use the Freedom ISO 2 to debut their brand new upper technology known as ISOKNIT. With the addition of ISOKNIT along with minor tweaks to the midsole, Saucony hopes to take the Freedom to the next level.
The Freedom ISO 2 continues to use a full-length EVERUN midsole, known for its plush underfoot feel and great energy return. However, the midsole of the Freedom ISO 2 has been updated with a more contoured design so you sit more inside rather than on top of the midsole. This should help guide the foot to the middle of the platform giving this model a slightly more stable ride than the original.
The outsole of the Freedom ISO 2 is made of the same sticky crystal rubber used on the previous version. To encourage a smoother transition from heel to toe, Saucony improved the flexibility of the Freedom ISO 2 by adding strategically placed flex grooves in the forefoot and heel.
The big story on the Freedom ISO 2 is the addition of the ISOKNIT upper. ISOKNIT takes the great sock-like feel of ISOFIT and combines it with a supportive and breathable engineered knit that provides improved freedom of movement.
